OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator with an engineering background to support our project and operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing quotations, preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project cost controls, and providing expert advice to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.
Key Responsibilities1. Cost Estimation & Quotation ReviewReview, analyse, and validate supplier and vendor quotations for accuracy and competitiveness.Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, materials, labour, and equipment.Ensure all pricing aligns with project specifications, engineering drawings, and client requirements.Identify discrepancies, cost-saving opportunities, and risks within quotations.2. Cost Management & AdvisoryMonitor project costs and provide recommendations to maintain budgets.Evaluate cost changes and their impact on project margins.Assist management in setting pricing strategies and approving final quotations.Provide technical and financial insights during tender preparation and client negotiations.3. Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate cost records, databases, and standard pricing templates.Prepare cost reports, variance analyses, and forecasting updates.Develop and maintain a library of approved pricing for materials, subcontractors, and labour categories.4. Collaboration & CoordinationWork closely with the engineering, procurement, operations, and project management teams.Liaise with suppliers and contractors to clarify scope, pricing, and technical details.Support the operations team in budget planning and cost optimisation initiatives.
RequirementsQualificationsDegree/Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or any relevant engineering field.Proven experience as an Estimator, Cost Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, or related role.
Skills & CompetenciesStrong cost estimation and analytical skills.Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, cost management tools, or estimation software.Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.Good communication and negotiation skills.Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
