About The Role
Thiess is seeking Expression of Interests for an experienced Production Superintendent to lead high-performing production teams at Mount Arthur South, driving excellence in safety, culture, and productivity.
Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Leading production crews to safely and effectively deliver the mine plan
- Achieving production targets through a collaborative, plan-driven approach
- Coaching and mentoring Supervisors and OCEs for continuous improvement and professional growth
- Collaborating closely with Technical Services and Drill & Blast to ensure plan compliance and path-to-plan delivery
- Driving accountability, cost-effectiveness, and performance across the production team
- Promoting a values-driven safety culture and fostering continuous improvement
Roster & Location
- 5 days on / 2 days off, with a monthly RDO
- Mount Arthur South is located five kilometres south of Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter Valley, NSW
About You
You will be an experienced mining leader with a strong background in open cut coal operations. You thrive in a team environment, enjoy coaching others, and are motivated to deliver results against challenging KPIs.
Key Requirements
- Significant open cut coal mining experience
- Proven leadership as a Superintendent or Senior Supervisor
- Strong planning, data interpretation, and coordination skills
- Open Cut Examiner’s Certificate of Competency (mandatory)
- Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (highly desirable)
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and coaching ability
- Financial and contractual awareness
