As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Perioperative Nurse Manager to join our executive leadership team.
This pivotal leadership role is responsible for overseeing perioperative services, ensuring exceptional clinical governance, operational excellence, and a strong culture of continuous improvement across all areas of the hospital.
About the Role
The Perioperative Nurse Unit Manager provides both strategic and operational leadership across the hospital's perioperative and clinical services. This key leadership role oversees patient safety, accreditation compliance, clinical workforce management, and service development to ensure the delivery of consistently high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Governance & Compliance
* Ensure ongoing compliance with hospital accreditation standards and all relevant regulatory, legal, and operational requirements
* Foster a culture of clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement
* Lead WHS and Quality systems, including risk management and infection control compliance.
Operational Leadership
* Oversee perioperative operations, patient flow, theatre utilisation, and demand forecasting.
* Manage practical aspects of care delivery, ensuring efficient and safe service provision.
* Support administrative, catering, and environmental services through direct leadership.
Workforce & Performance
* Lead systematic workforce planning and manage rostering, staffing, and competency frameworks.
* Provide professional development support and mentorship for clinical teams.
* Conduct annual performance reviews and ensure mandatory training compliance.
Financial & Strategic Management
* Collaborate with executive team members to plan and maintain departmental and hospital budgets.
* Drive growth initiatives, service expansion opportunities, and operational efficiency improvements.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Maintain strong relationships with VMOs, ensuring exceptional clinical care delivery.
* Nurture a positive workplace culture, promoting teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
* Deliver high-quality customer service experiences for patients, staff, and stakeholders.
About You
You are an experienced clinical leader with exceptional communication, operational decision-making, and people management skills. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring a strong patient-centred approach to everything you do.
* Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration.
* Minimum 2 years leadership within perioperative, day hospital, or acute care settings.
* Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded).
* Strong knowledge of nursing standards, NSQHS Standards, and relevant legislation.
* Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, and resource optimisation.
* Advanced skills in negotiation, change management, ethical decision-making, and risk management.
* Compliance with Queensland Health worker immunisation requirements.
