Overview
Our client is a large, complex organisation operating in a highly regulated, asset-intensive environment. They are undertaking significant technology and business transformation, with a strong focus on future readiness, and secure, scalable platforms across both IT and operational technology domains.
The Principal Enterprise Architect is a senior strategic leadership role responsible for shaping, governing, and evolving enterprise architecture to ensure technology investments align with business strategy and deliver long-term value.
Reporting to the Strategy Manager, this role provides enterprise-wide architectural authority across business, data, application, integration, cloud, and infrastructure domains. You will work closely with senior business and technology leaders, lead architecture governance forums, and play a critical role in major digital, cloud, and data transformation initiatives.
This is a 12-month contract through to February 2027, with flexibility to be based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture blueprint aligned to business strategy and transformation objectives
* Translate business and technology dependencies into actionable enterprise, data, and solution architectures
* Establish, lead, and enforce enterprise architecture governance, including chairing architecture review and design authority forums
* Drive cost-efficient technology planning, balancing innovation with total cost of ownership (CapEx vs OpEx)
* Promote reuse of platforms, standards, and shared services to reduce duplication and cost
* Provide architectural leadership for cloud, data, analytics, automation, and digital initiatives
* Ensure cybersecurity, resilience, and regulatory compliance are embedded into all architectural designs
* Support portfolio and investment decision-making with clear visibility of value, risk, and cost
* Mentor and uplift enterprise and solution architects, strengthening architecture maturity across the organisation
Key Capabilities
* Proven experience in a Principal or Enterprise Architect role within large, complex or regulated environments
* Strong enterprise architecture expertise across IT and OT domains, including IT/OT convergence
* Deep knowledge of architecture governance, standards, and design authority models
* Hands-on experience with cloud-native platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and modern data platforms
* Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience assessing architectural decisions against long-term value and risk
* Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including influencing senior executives
* Relevant qualifications and certifications such as TOGAF and cloud architecture certifications highly regarded
