Junior OH&S Coordinator – Civil Construction
Civelite is a dynamic commercial civil construction company that has successfully completed a majority of projects in the Geelong region since its establishment in late 2017. As we move forward throughout 2026, we are seeking a Junior OH&S Coordinator to join our growing team.
About The Role
As an ISO‑certified organisation, Civelite is committed to maintaining high standards across safety, quality and environmental management. We deliver a wide range of civil infrastructure projects, many of which we undertake as Principal Contractor. Working closely with senior management and site teams, you will support Civelite’s WHS systems across multiple projects, gaining hands‑on exposure to real‑world site safety systems, with training and mentoring provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
As the Junior OH&S Coordinator, you will take ownership of day‑to‑day safety coordination across projects, with support and guidance from senior management as required. Your responsibilities will include:
* Develop, implement, and maintain WHS policies and procedures
* Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation
* Oversee WHS obligations where Civelite is acting as Principal Contractor
* Maintain and continuously improve our ISO-certified management systems
* Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
* Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
* Manage subcontractor safety compliance and documentation
* Facilitate safety training and toolbox talks
* Maintain accurate safety reporting and records
* Promote a strong safety culture across all project teams
* Maintaining accurate safety records, registers, and reporting documentation
* Actively promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across all project teams
Requirements
* Qualification in Work Health & Safety or a related field
(Certificate IV, Diploma, or Bachelor level considered)
* Graduate or early‑career safety professional with a strong interest in civil construction
* Foundational understanding of WHS legislation and compliance requirements
* Willingness to take responsibility while learning and developing under guidance
* Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with site personnel
* Organised, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment
* Ability to work across multiple sites
* Current driver’s licence
Desirable
* Some practical exposure to construction or civil works environments
* First Aid certification
* Exposure to ISO‑certified systems (e.g ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001)
* Interest in progressing toward Lead Auditor or higher‑level WHS qualifications
