Women's National Basketball League (WNBL)
is poised for an exciting transformation, with a current ownership structure, an elevated game, and a new level of excitement with the goal of being a global leader in women's sport.
We're recruiting a variety of new roles in advance of the WNBL 2025/26 season – a move reflecting a strategic effort to enhance the management and operations of the WNBL, ensuring it aligns with broader goals for growth, visibility, and competitive success within women's basketball.
What You'll Do
As
Commercial Manager
, you will drive revenue growth through strategic sales activities, brand partnerships, and business development while managing the sales pipeline and creating partnership proposals.
You'll play a key role in achieving the league's commercial objectives and integrating new partnerships into the League's strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline, identifying high-potential brands and agencies that align with WNBL's goals
Conduct day-to-day sales activities including collateral development, sales negotiations, asset creation, and contract management
Execute sales strategies to secure new commercial partners and expand existing partnerships, meeting or exceeding revenue targets
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with brands, agencies, media partners, and WNBL teams
Act as a trusted point of contact for commercial partners, representing the WNBL professionally
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure buy-in for all commercial solutions
Strategic Development & Execution
Partner with the Chief Growth Officer to develop and execute the WNBL commercial strategy
Lead the development of compelling partnership proposals and pitch documents tailored to brand objectives
Identify, develop, and commercialize new products, programs, and services in collaboration with stakeholders
Performance & Reporting
Set, monitor, and report on performance targets, delivering insights on financial and operational outcomes
Oversee contract management, ensuring contractual agreements are met and align with WNBL's objectives
What You Bring
We're looking for someone with:
Minimum 5 years of experience in sports sales, media advertising, or related field
Proven experience in developing successful commercial partnerships and achieving revenue targets
Familiarity with the sports industry, preferably with experience in women's sports
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build productive professional relationships
Excellent time management with ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
High-level judgement, discretion, and diplomacy, especially in negotiations and relationship management
Strong strategic mindset with ability to proactively identify and pitch new commercial opportunities
