Job Description
The Patient Services Officer is responsible for delivering courteous, effective, and efficient patient support services.
Key Duties:
* Provide accurate, timely clerical support for Clinical Nursing Unit Manager and clinical team.
* Maintain stationery stock levels by ordering on a regular weekly basis.
* Retrieve laboratory results, medical records, X-rays and obtain discharge summaries from other hospitals as requested.
* Complete maintenance requests as requested by Clinical Nurse Unit Manager.
* Coordinate various services from other departments/units as requested.
* Organise transport for patients by ambulance, hire car or taxi as requested.
* Answer enquiries as to patient location within the department.
* Receive incoming telephone calls and redirect calls, take and record messages for staff.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
* Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
* Demonstrated communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with an excellent telephone manner.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team in periods of high demand and activity.
* Experience with .i.PM and medical record management.
* Commitment to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
* Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development including update of software application knowledge.
