Your next career opportunity As the Communications Specialist at the Collaborative Centre for Genomic Cancer Medicine, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and impact of groundbreaking cancer research. You'll develop and deliver the Centre's communication strategy, working closely with world-class researchers to translate complex genomic studies into compelling narratives. This position offers you the chance to bridge the gap between cutting-edge science and public engagement, while fostering partnerships that drive innovation in cancer treatment and prevention. Your responsibilities will include: Develop Communication Strategies: Lead the creation and implementation of internal and external communication plans for the Centre. Translate Complex Research: Work with researchers to identify media opportunities and develop content for diverse audiences. Manage Digital Presence: Maintain and enhance the Centre's websites and social media platforms with engaging, research-focused content. Coordinate High-Impact Events: Develop and manage events, including a cancer-themed seminar series featuring diverse presenters. Foster Partnerships: Liaise with researchers to develop project proposals for key philanthropic, industry, and government partners. Produce Annual Reports: Create comprehensive reports highlighting research outcomes, partnerships, and Centre activities. You may be a great fit if: You are a strategic communicator with a passion for translating complex scientific concepts into engaging narratives, demonstrating strong project management skills and the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. You may also: Hold a tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualification preferred). Have proven experience in developing and implementing communication strategies. Possess highly developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate strong writing, editing, and content development abilities. Show excellent time management skills and attention to detail while managing multiple tasks. Have experience in partnership and stakeholder engagement, including reporting requirements. Be proficient in standard application software, including the Microsoft Office suite.
