Principal Mechanical Engineer (Australia)
Role Highlights

Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design to align with project objectives and standards.
- Ensure compliant, maintainable assets across all environments.
- Provide technical expertise and review engineering deliverables.
- Manage RFIs, risks, and engineering documentation.
- Support tenders, manage consultants, and engage stakeholders.
- Lead design reviews and ensure actions are closed out.
Qualifications
As a technically credible and influential engineering leader you can:
- Manage complexity, drive alignment, and ensure high‐quality, compliant mechanical outcomes through collaborative, accountable and respectful leadership in a stakeholder‐heavy environment.
- Hold a degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum of 10 to 15 years' experience in the delivery of mining and/or industrial projects.
- Be experienced in the design, construction, and maintenance of mechanical and materials handling assets.
- Have strong experience analysing conveyor systems to evaluate effectiveness.
- Have experience with the design, operation and maintenance of balanced machines such as stackers and grab unloaders.
- Be experienced in writing specifications and technical reports.
- Possess strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrate excellent problem‐solving and analytical abilities.
- Have detailed knowledge of statutory requirements and national standards associated with the design, approval and development of mechanical assets.
Highly Desirable Skills
- Owner's team or owner's engineer experience.
- Chartered Engineer or eligible for Chartered Engineer registration.
- Knowledge of port operations and mechanical infrastructure.
- Experience with mechanical installations within hazardous areas.
