Job Description
The Director of Engineering plays a pivotal role in driving strategic vision, sustainability goals, and operational excellence at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead development and execution of long-term engineering strategy and 5-year capital plan.
* Oversee major renovations, asset upgrades, and infrastructure improvement projects.
* Identify and implement energy-efficient and ROI-driven solutions aligned with sustainability goals.
* Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing, engaged Engineering team.
* Foster an inclusive, accountable, and safety-driven work environment.
* Implement and refine the preventive maintenance program across all guest and public areas.
Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering or related discipline.
* Level 4 Power Engineer Certificate (required); 2nd Class Stationary Engineer (preferred).
* Minimum 5 years' leadership experience in engineering within a luxury hotel or complex facility.
* Proven expertise in building systems: HVAC, MEP, life safety, and energy management.
* Deep understanding of BC Occupational Health & Safety and building/fire codes.
* Experience managing preventive maintenance programs and capital projects.
* Budget management expertise, with a strong focus on ROI and cost-effectiveness.
