About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Jiu-Jitsu Coach to support our Head Instructor and help with the smooth day-to-day operation of our academy. This role combines on-the-mat coaching with off-the-mat administrative support and is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, values structure, and takes pride in contributing to a positive team culture.
All work is scheduled in the afternoons, making this role well suited to someone who has another job, studies, or other commitments during the day. Possible opportunity for free accomodation for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching (Approx. 15 hours per week)
* Assist in delivering structured Jiu-Jitsu classes for kids, teens, and adults
* Support the Head Instructor during classes and follow the Gracie Barra curriculum
* Help maintain a safe, positive, and disciplined training environment
* Provide encouragement and guidance to students of all levels
* Step in to run classes when required and approved
Administration (Approx. 10 hours per week)
* Assist with general gym administration and daily operations
* Respond to enquiries (in-person, phone, email, social media as required)
* Assist with member onboarding, attendance tracking, and basic data entry
* Support scheduling, communication with members, and internal organisation
* Help keep the gym clean, presentable, and professionally run
About You
* Background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (minimum experience required, belt level flexible depending on overall suitability)
* Minimum purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is required
* Comfortable working with children and adults
* Reliable, organised, and professional
* Strong communication and people skills
* Willing to learn systems and follow established processes
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Afternoon availability is essential
* Must be available from 3-7pm on weekdays
* Australian work rights are required for this position
Desirable (but not essential)
* Previous coaching or assistant coaching experience
* Experience in admin, customer service, or a gym environment
* Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
