About Us
Our client is seeking a Japanese Speaking Senior Accountant/ Accounting Manager (depends on experience) to join an international organisation and take ownership of end‑to‑end financial, statutory, and operational accounting responsibilities in Australia.
This is a full‑time permanent position based in Sydney. Hybrid working.
Japanese language skills (business level or above) are essential, as the role requires regular communication with Japan‑based stakeholders and Japan‑related reporting.
Responsibilities
As the Senior Accountant, you will manage monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting processes while supporting a variety of operational and compliance activities. This role offers broad exposure across financial reporting, tax, governance, and business support.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, inventory reporting, fixed asset register)
* Manage AP/AR and payment processes
* Month-end close tasks (prepayments, accruals, depreciation entries)
* General ledger and bank reconciliations
* Intercompany reporting
* Monthly P&L and emissions reporting to HQ (Japan)
* Financial reporting for Board meetings and preparation of minutes
* BAS / IAS submissions
* Audit coordination
* Other Responsibilities: Support for expatriate visa applications; assistance with housing and vehicle arrangements

Your Profile
We are looking for a candidate who has:
* Business ‑ level Japanese language skills (must ‑ have)
* A degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
* CPA/CA qualification (or working toward it) preferred
* Understanding of Australian accounting standards and statutory reporting
* Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
* Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders independently
