Work with Us – Teen Engagement & Events Manager

Role: Permanent, part-time (26.3 hrs/week)

Renumeration: $40/hour

Location: Caulfield, Victoria

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

For more than 130 years, the United Jewish Education Board (UJEB) has provided formal and informal Jewish education and culturally rich experiences to Victorian students who do not attend Jewish schools. UJEB aims to foster a positive connection to Jewish identity and support students to develop into confident, engaged members of the Jewish community.

UJEB delivers a broad range of lunchtime, after‐school, holiday and experiential programs for primary and secondary school students.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Engagement & Events Manager is responsible for the leadership, coordination and delivery of UJEB's Teen Engagement programs and UJEB community events. Reporting to the Executive Principal, the role provides strategic and operational oversight of teen engagement staff and madrichim, ensures high‐quality program delivery, and manages family engagement events.

The role requires regular attendance at programs and events, including evenings, weekends and camps. These requirements are reflected in the remuneration for the position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Recruit, induct, train and supervise Teen Engagement staff, madrichim and volunteers.
* Provide leadership, guidance and performance support to direct reports.
* Foster a positive, inclusive and professional team culture aligned with UJEB values.
* Coordinate and oversee the delivery of UJEB Teen Engagement programs, ensuring they are engaging, well‐resourced and aligned with UJEB educational objectives.
* Ensure appropriate staffing, supervision and resources are in place for all programs.
* Monitor attendance, program evaluations and reporting.

PROGRAM COORDINATION & DELIVERY (16.5 hrs/week)

* Programs include:
o J‐Lunch: Jewish engagement in high schools, 8+ weekly sessions and four events per year. (5 hrs/week)
o Ambassador Program: Weekly coordination, facilitation of training sessions and accompaniment of students to schools. (4 hrs/week)
o Debunking Program: Ongoing coordination and delivery. (3 hrs/week)
o Year 6/7 Bridging Program: Planning and delivery of engagement activities supporting the transition to secondary school. (0.5 hrs/week – concentrated)
o UJEB Camp and Retreats: Planning of UJEB camp and retreats, including logistics, managing staff and program design. (1 hr/week – concentrated)
o UJEB High Special Projects / additional events: Planning and delivery of UJEB special projects, e.g. JVoice. (3 hrs/week)
* Track participation and feedback to support continuous improvement of engagement initiatives.
* Maintain a safe, orderly and inclusive environment across all programs and events.
* Ensure compliance with UJEB child safety policies and the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
* Oversee child safety and compliance responsibilities for self and direct reports, including risk assessments, staff compliance and training, attendance records, incident and progress reporting, and maintenance of accurate databases and records.

EVENTS & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT (7.3 hrs/week)

* Plan, coordinate and deliver UJEB family and community engagement events across both primary and secondary school cohorts as well as donors.
* Work collaboratively with internal staff and external partners to ensure events are inclusive, well‐promoted and aligned with UJEB values.
* Track participation and feedback to support continuous improvement of engagement initiatives.
* Maintain a safe, orderly and inclusive environment across all programs and events.
* Ensure compliance with UJEB child safety policies and the Victorian Child Safe Standards.

COMMUNICATION & ADMINISTRATION (2.5 hrs/week)

* Contribute to UJEB communications, including social media and email.
* Attend required meetings, including weekly supervision meetings, fortnightly management meetings and termly staff professional development sessions.

SELECTION CRITERIA

* Experience working with young people in an education, youth or community setting.
* Demonstrated experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
* Strong organisational, communication and time‐management skills.
* Experience organising events.
* Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and camps as required.
* Commitment to child safety and inclusive practice.
* Current right to live and work in Australia.
