Find purpose and impact
As a Cemeteries Officer, you will make an impact by being responsible for managing and maintaining cemeteries within the Local Government Area, ensuring services are delivered with efficiency, professionalism, and compassion. The role involves coordinating burial arrangements, maintaining accurate records, liaising with bereaved families and funeral industry professionals, and overseeing cemetery operations and infrastructure. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to uphold regulatory compliance while providing dignified and respectful services to the community.
You'll make an impact by:
* Coordinating cemetery operations including grave preparation, interment services, and monument installations in line with regulations.
* Providing compassionate customer service by liaising with bereaved families, funeral directors, and monument businesses to arrange burials and memorials.
* Maintaining accurate cemetery records such as burial registers, plot allocations, and memorial details, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
* Overseeing maintenance of cemetery grounds and infrastructure, including pathways, irrigation systems, and horticultural upkeep.
Ensuring compliance and safety by implementing risk management procedures, monitoring legislative requirements, and supporting workplace health and safety standards.
What you'll bring
To thrive in this role, you will need:
* Certificate IV in Business Administration, Cemetery Management or related field with willingness to undertake further study in cemetery management.
* Demonstrated experience in customer service with particular emphasis on sensitive client interactions and conflict resolution.
* Demonstrated experience in record keeping, database management and administrative processes.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work compassionately with bereaved families and funeral industry professionals.
* Demonstrated competence in MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and database management systems.
* Sound understanding of regulatory compliance and record keeping requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
We would also love you to have:
Knowledge of cemetery regulations, burial practices and memorial industry standards.

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $80,529 to $93,588 .
