Primary Purpose To manage a specialist portfolio of products within a defined geographical territory and to maximise the sales derived from all customers in the assigned territory. Where is the position located? Perth, WA What will your typical day look like? Responsible for achieving sales results from the territory versus monthly budgets for specified product groups. Develop an in-depth understanding of the relevant product range in both operation and application. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the customer base making up the territory and always have in place an updated territory plan. Maintain company property, including mobile telephone, Laptop, iPad, literature, and demonstration products as per policy. Develop sales and business practice skills in keeping with the needs of the position to ensure that productivity is optimised. Prepare weekly sales visits and ensure calendar always has three weeks of future activities. Ensure all customer data is captured in CRM system including sales visits, demonstrations, Opportunities, Quotes, and other data relevant to the territory Prepare weekly activity reports and territory sales forecasts. Arrange appointments, whenever necessary to meet with the key decision makers to support the personal weekly plans and marketing promotions which are underway. To work closely with Marketing to maximise any opportunities which may be present in the market and to co-ordinate marketing effort with sales effort to achieve the best possible result. Liaise with Logistics Coordinator or nominated Product Specialist/Manager to arrange products in advance of any demonstration which may be planned in the weeks following. Liaise with customer service and service personnel on a regular basis to be briefed on developments that have taken place, specifically status of customer repairs, in the territory and to be generally aware of orders being placed. Follow-up promptly all sales leads that are received from website, conferences or any marketing activity Prepare plans to continually prospect for new business opportunities outside established relationships with known customers. Assist Accounts department and customer service personnel with the resolution of customer queries, customer credit, and debt collection where required. Liaise with Product Specialists/Managers to ensure assistance is provided, where necessary, with application and technical aspects of products within the respective group. Attend and actively contribute to training programs as these arise; where appropriate, attend and represent Olympus Australia at trade shows and other events as required from time to time. Actively contribute towards the development of a team approach within the organisation. Maintain adherence to the Quality Assurance System and report all customer complaints (internal and external) and conditions that are adverse to the operational efficiency of the Department or achievement of quality, and to make improvement suggestions as appropriate. The Sales Specialist has the authority to make decisions in accordance with the key responsibilities of this position. What do we want to know about you? Sales Specialists should have experience or enormous aptitude for the area of business they are to be active in. The Company can provide product training, but an understanding of the market is a key element of this position. Sales Specialists should be sensitive to the needs of the market and understand the balance between simply providing a service by calling on customers and providing a service which is commercially beneficial to both the customer and the Company. Sales Specialists should have the ability to complement, develop and build the business in parallel with the objectives of the Division and should not impose personal opinions or biases. Sales Specialists are a key element in the success of the Divisions and require focus, determination and understanding. A background in a Relevant Engineering discipline or Mechanical trade, or and/or professional selling skills. Formal sales skills training and at least three years’ experience in a field sales role is preferred. Strong technical skills and a thirst for working with market leading state of the art technologies. Personal characteristics should include the ability to communicate at all levels and develop a work-related environment that is motivational in nature. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to present logical and cohesive arguments. Achievement oriented, tenacious and a determination to succeed. Ability to negotiate at all levels. Ability to work harmoniously in a team environment. A desire to deliver excellent service.
