A temporary position has arisen to backfill leave for 15 months commencing April 2025. The paediatric cardiologist filling this position will be part of the SCHN Cardiac Service, a quaternary level programme delivering paediatric cardiac services across the Randwick and Westmead sites of the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network.
The successful applicant will provide services in 2 main areas:
(a) Heart function, mechanical circulatory support, transplant and inherited cardiac disease.
(b) General paediatric cardiology clinical service.
The clinician will contribute to the coordinated care of patients with congenital or acquired heart disease (including
complex congenital heart disease) including paediatric cardiac consultations & clinics (at both hospital sites and
remotely as needed), ward and on-call service, relevant non-invasive investigations (including echocardiography) and

The successful applicant will have qualities and act consistent with the SCHN Cardiac Service Vision and Culture
Clinical service delivery will be for inpatients and outpatients with a robust emphasis on inpatient service delivery.
Expectations:
Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team (Cardiologists/
Nurse Consultants/Administrative staff).
Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.
Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in
accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Paediatric Cardiologist and/or overseas trained specialist pathway. Eligibility for membership of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) and Fellowship of the RACP and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist Award.
- Comprehensive advanced training in an internationally recognised centre of paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery excellence.
- The ideal applicant will have advanced recent paediatric experience in the management and investigation of heart failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support, transplant, ICD and standard congenital heart cardiac disease. Applicants who may require further paediatric training in some of these areas are eligible to apply.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, sustainably, and harmoniously within a multidisciplinary cardiac services team.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching, continuing education, quality research and academic pursuits, and quality improvement.
- Willingness to work as a full time clinician within the Cardiac Service at both Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick and the Children's Hospital at Westmead, and availability to participate in an on-call roster for both sites and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
