IT Consulting - Business Development Manager
Empyrean is a Melbourne based IT consulting and cyber security firm specialising in Microsoft, cyber advisory, managed security services, data and AI platforms.
We work with mid market and regulated organisations that care about security, governance and doing things properly. Our engagements range from targeted security and Microsoft projects through to long term managed services partnerships, as well as large value hardware/software procurement opportunities.
This is not a high volume MSP sales role. It is a consultative BDM position focused on outcomes, trust, and long term relationships.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to drive new logo acquisition and strategic growth.
You will engage directly with CIOs, CISOs, IT Managers and senior executives, leading conversations around cyber risk, Microsoft security, Data & AI, cloud platforms and managed services.
You will own opportunities end to end, supported by senior architects and delivery teams, allowing you to focus on selling and relationship building rather than solution firefighting.
What You Will Be Selling
Microsoft 365 security and E5 solutions
Cyber security advisory and Essential Eight uplift
Managed IT and Managed Security Services
Data and AI platforms including Microsoft Fabric and Copilot readiness
Cloud, networking and infrastructure solutions
Consulting led projects with ongoing annuity potential
Hardware/software procurement
Typical initial engagements range from $30k projects through to six figure managed services agreements.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 6 to 12 months you will:
Build a strong pipeline aligned to Empyrean's core services
Close 6 figures of net new business
Close your first managed services or security engagement
Establish trusted relationships across 10 to 15 target accounts
What We Are Looking For
Self driven and goal orientated personality
Proven experience in B2B technology or IT consulting sales
Comfortable selling to and building relationships with senior decision makers
Strong discovery and consultative selling capability
Experience selling managed services, cyber security or Microsoft solutions preferred
Ability to manage longer sales cycles and complex deals
CRM discipline experience with HubSpot highly regarded
Commercials
Uncapped commission with realistic OTE of $250k+ for consistent performers
High deal ownership with strong presales and delivery support
