Overview
This is an exciting new position for an experienced speech pathologist to join a supportive team leading and developing high quality services to adult sub‐acute inpatients and outpatients based at Camden Hospital. As a team leader and senior clinician, the role will manage inpatient/outpatient sub‐acute rehabilitation and community palliative care streams, handling communication and swallowing disorders including instrumental swallow assessments such as VFSS and FEES. The position will also lead service development, provide supervision and training to staff and students, engage with specialist multidisciplinary teams, and work on quality improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and manage the delivery of speech pathology services at Camden Hospital, including sub‐acute inpatient rehabilitation, adult outpatients, and community palliative care services.
- Provide clinical supervision to staff and students ensuring best outcomes for inpatient, outpatient, and palliative care caseloads.
- Conduct adult VFSS and/or FEES assessments and manage swallowing disorder cases.
- Lead service development initiatives, including planning, implementing, and evaluating local service delivery and quality improvement projects.
- Work across sub‐acute, acute inpatient, and outpatient clinical streams and across sites to meet the needs of both acute and sub‐acute caseloads.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology (or equivalent) providing eligibility for full practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
- Advanced clinical knowledge and postgraduate experience in adult dysphagia and communication management across sub‐acute inpatient and outpatient settings, including rehabilitation and palliative care populations.
- Knowledge/experience conducting adult VFSS and/or FEES.
- Demonstrated leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating local service delivery initiatives, using quality improvement processes and evidence‐based practice to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ability to lead a team and work independently, with experience supervising staff/students and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
- Possession of an Australian C‐Class driver's licence (including P1 or P2). Licences from other states must be converted to a NSW C‐Class licence within three months of appointment. Learner's licences are not permitted.
