Your Role
An integral part of the Finance Department, the Senior Accountant will report to the Senior Finance Manager and will work closely in collaboration with other finance team members. The role is based out of our Mildura office and is a full-time role.
In this position as the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing key financial processes including end of month processing and reconciliation, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role supports internal and external audits, contributes to budgeting and financial reporting, and analyses financial performance to provide strategic insights.
The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and customer billing. They will be organised and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.
Key Selection Criteria
* Strong demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and revenue recognition standards, financial analysis techniques and budgeting processes with proficiency in financial software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Demonstrated well-developed analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills in accounting and financial management information systems.
* Demonstrated ability to create, revise, edit and produce documentation in consideration of given instructions ensuring application of accuracy and quality throughout.
* Ability to take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve service with the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related notes.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A relevant professional certification (e.g. CPA, CA) is desirable
* Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar financial role, with experience in Medicare processes and systems an advantage
* Experience in financial software packages such as Business Central (Microsoft Dynamics), MagiQ
Other Screening Requirements:
Valid Drivers License that allows you to drive in Australia.
Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
