About the project
The East Rockingham Waste‐to‐Energy Project is a landmark facility in Western Australia that converts municipal and commercial waste into renewable energy. It will process up to 300,000 tonnes of waste annually, generating sustainable electricity for thousands of homes while reducing landfill. ACCIONA is delivering this complex infrastructure project with cutting‐edge technology and a strong focus on environmental outcomes.
About the opportunity
As the Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the Mechanical team and its contractors, and when required deputise for the E&M Manager. You will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of systems and processes, ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance on a 24‐hour shift system. You will build and maintain relationships with colleagues to ensure effective communication across the site, and will be required to be totally flexible and carry out other duties as identified to achieve site objectives.
Responsibilities
* Lead Engineering teams and deploy progression support to develop high‐performing teams with a culture centred on outstanding performance and plant availability.
* Support safe working processes and implement safety systems.
* Manage contractors and control their work areas.
* Provide mentoring and guidance to technical personnel responsible for individual and team performance management, ensuring adequate resources.
* Ensure each site complies with and achieves all contractual and performance obligations under the relevant contracts.
* Lead all asset management and maintenance activities to completion within the agreed timeframes.
* Implement and promote ACCIONA's policies on quality, safety and environmental management systems, fostering a safety‐first culture among the operations team.
* Prepare submissions, reports and key performance indicators.
* Work with other Engineers and Technicians to develop strategic plans for facility availability and implement strategies as required.
Qualifications and Competencies
* Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mining, Heavy Industry or equivalent.
* 5+ years of industrial experience.
* Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience.
* Experience working closely with large and diverse project teams.
* Strong to advanced proficiency in Excel.
* Valid driver's licence.
