*About Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit
The Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit (GEM) provides comprehensive care for older patients with geriatric syndromes. This Unit also offers multidisciplinary support for both functional and cognitive decline.
About your new role
As a valued member of the GEM team, you will deliver comprehensive, person-centred, and evidence-based care within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment. Your focus will be on promoting the wellbeing of older adults by partnering closely with patients and their families to reduce the impact of hospitalisation and improve quality of life. This includes:
Working collaboratively to ensure ongoing unit-based education and in-service delivery for the unit nursing staff
Promoting teamwork, a positive and inclusive team culture
Providing advanced clinical advice and education at the expert end of the scope of nursing continuum within the General Medicine and Geriatric environment
Fostering support and engagement in lifelong learning
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)
