Drilling Support Technician Job
About the Role:
The Drilling Support Technician plays a vital part in ensuring the efficient and safe execution of drilling projects. This position involves hands-on labor, equipment operation, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the driller in setting up and operating drilling rigs and associated equipment.
* Monitor drilling progress and assist in troubleshooting operational issues.
* Maintain accurate records of drilling activities.
* Assist in the development or decommission of wells.
* Assist in the recovery of soil samples.
* Perform routine maintenance and inspections of drilling equipment.
* Clean and lubricate equipment and vehicles as required.
* Identify and report equipment malfunctions to the driller.
* Assist with the loading and unloading of equipment and supplies.
* Prepare drilling sites by clearing obstructions and levelling the ground.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Assist with the restoration of drilling sites upon project completion.
* Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
* Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
* Identify and report potential safety hazards.
* Follow all environmental regulations.
Requirements and Qualifications:
* Previous experience as a Driller's Offsider or in a similar hands-on role within the mining, resources or construction industry is advantageous.
* Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery and equipment are highly regarded.
* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
* A commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a tight-knit team.
* MR-B or MR Unrestricted Driver's License (or working towards) is essential.
* Forklift License (or working towards) is essential.
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol test.
* National Police Clearance within 6 months (or ability to obtain one).
* First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willing to obtain).
