Job Overview
We are seeking a Trade Instructor – Textiles for the Industries & Trades team at Clarence Correctional Centre, the largest correctional facility in Australia. The role involves teaching inmates trade skills, supervising work, ensuring safety, and supporting rehabilitation and reintegration.
Responsibilities
* Supervise inmates' work in the textiles industry and encourage rehabilitation through trade engagement.
* Implement training programs and support skill development in a workshop environment.
* Maintain a safe and compliant work area in accordance with WHS policy and corrective services procedures.
* Monitor inmate behaviour and report incidents or risks.
* Manage tool and equipment usage including pre‐starts and daily audits.
* Support reintegration goals through skill‐building and case management input.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Certificate III in Textiles or working towards this qualification.
* Willingness to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice (if not already held).
* Minimum 5 years of experience working in a trade environment.
* Knowledge of workshop operations, safety protocols, and relevant regulations.
* Ability to mentor and teach inmates with professionalism and care.
* Strong communication skills and high attention to detail.
* A valid driver's licence.
