Job Description
Jo Civil Engineering Services (JOCES), a growing civil engineering consultancy based in Parramatta, is seeking a motivated Civil Design Engineer with experience in 12D to join our team.
We deliver expert services in road design, stormwater, flooding, and development engineering for Local Governments and private developers. This role will involve working on a variety of civil design projects including roads, intersections, subdivisions and stormwater, as well as contributing to Council development engineering workloads.
Responsibilities
- Prepare civil works designs in 12D including roads, intersections, pavements, kerb and gutter, access and subdivision layouts
- Undertake stormwater and drainage design including pit and pipe networks, on site detention and overland flow paths
- Provide Council development engineering support by reviewing development applications, assessing civil and stormwater plans and ensuring compliance with Council and DCP requirements
- Review and analyse engineering documentation, providing constructive feedback and compliance checks
- Liaise with councils, authorities, developers and clients to achieve design approvals
- Collaborate with internal engineers and project managers to ensure timely, high quality project delivery
- Contribute to a positive, team based design culture and support staff where needed
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution
- At least 2 years’ experience in civil design or development engineering
- Proficiency in 12D for civil design and modelling
- Strong understanding of Austroads Guide to Road Design and Australian Standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a car
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of stormwater design software such as DRAINS and MUSIC
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Understanding of NSW planning legislation and development processes
- Knowledge of traffic engineering principles such as intersections, access and sight distance
- Experience in flood risk assessment and subdivision works
- Understanding of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Roads Act 1993 and Local Government Act 1993
- Familiarity with urban design concepts, including stormwater management, on-site detentions, bio-retention basins, roads, and transport engineering.
- Working knowledge of civil industry software, such as DRAINS, MUSIC, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with Australian Standards and local council engineering requirements.
