Support vulnerable people across Australia through Red Cross
The Program
The Accommodation Centre offers a welcoming home away from home for individuals traveling from rural and remote areas to receive medical treatment at Townsville University Hospital. The Centre provides accommodation to hospital clients and reflects the Red Cross wellbeing model, emphasizing openness, welcome, and homeliness, mirroring health and recovery.
The Opportunity
Ideal candidates will be able to communicate effectively with diverse community members, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated skills in time management and organization for administrative tasks are essential. Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel, is required. Ability to work independently, take initiative, work as part of a team, and be flexible with tasks are valued assets.
Red Cross provides training, ongoing support, and access to various opportunities within the world's largest humanitarian network.
The Impact
As a volunteer, you will help those traveling for medical treatment feel comfortable and supported. Your role involves listening, empathizing, and offering a friendly voice, gaining insights from diverse backgrounds, and experiencing the fulfillment of giving back to others.
