* Base Salary starting at $90,155 pro rata + 17% superannuation
* Primarily based at ANZAC Research Institute, Concord with regular rostered days within the Camperdown Laboratory Animal Services facilities

Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.
We are seeking an Animal Technician to provide animal husbandry services and support the daily operations of the ANZAC animal facility. The role involves ensuring animal welfare compliance, managing facility supplies, overseeing contractor onsite operations, and supporting the effective operation of research animal environments.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* provide animal husbandry services, ensuring animal welfare standards and regulatory compliance
* complete routine animal husbandry tasks, including cage changing, health monitoring, cage preparation and cleaning
* provide technical assistance where required or directed and be able to operate facility equipment.
* ensure the accuracy of animal records and communicate any animal welfare concerns and provide assistance in resolving these as directed.
* Collect and submit data for regulatory compliance, financial operations and human resources
* manage the ordering, stocktake and use of consumables, monitor equipment and infrastructure, and oversee facility cleanliness, safety and maintenance requirements.
* engage with stakeholders to address concerns, gather feedback, and maintain effective communication channels
* administer reporting processes, maintain accurate data within university and local health district systems, and contribute to compliance with regulations
* have a commitment to animal welfare and the use of animals in research in accordance with the NSW Animal Research Act 1985 and understanding other legislation the facility operates under.
* perform work activities relevant to the role's key accountabilities as approved by the manager and commensurate to the role's classification level.
About you
* tertiary education in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
* experience working in laboratory animal facilities
* knowledge of animal breeding systems and reporting requirements
* skills in organisation and time management and attention to detail
* computer literacy and ability to maintain accurate records, experience with animal databases
* ability to communicate effectively, provide customer service, and work collaboratively in a team.
* willingness to participate in weekend or overtime rosters as required.
* have a general level of fitness and be able to lift and push up to 15kg
* hold a valid Australian Driver's License.
