Sports Garden Hotel is seeking applications for a Sous Chef role at the venue. We are looking for a qualified chef to help the HC lead & oversee BOH operations in a high volume kitchen. As we head into the busy AFL & winter sport period of events there is a great opportunity to take on this role & lead the team into the year.
Sports Garden is located in a great position in the city close to UTAS Stadium, Albert Hall & multiple large businesses in the area. The venue operates from Tuesday - Sunday with a focus on showing live sport which is complimented by a great food menu and drinks list, quality customer service & entertainment. We have bistro & bar service, large function room, accommodation & events spaces.
The venue is perfectly placed for events happening in the area in the early stages of 2026, and continues to trade well through the winter months with live AFL screening and games played at UTAS. Along with multiple other sports and bookings throughout the year.
We believe the kitchen is a huge part of the venue's success so far, and we are seeking applicants to continue this and elevate this area even more. We have a great team in place in both FOH & BOH and we keen to find the right people to help lead the teams into the new year.
Responsibilities
* Assist the HC lead & oversee BOH operations in a high volume kitchen during the AFL & winter sport period
* Lead and train kitchen staff and collaborate with FOH & BOH teams
* Help drive quality meal execution and menu standards at the venue
Experience & requirements
* Over 2 years experience in a previous role
* Previous experience in pub style menu or similar preferred
* Great communication skills & a positive attitude
* Leading & training staff
* Relevant qualifications for the role
* Ability to work under pressure, in high turnover kitchen
* Managing stock, wage costs, supplier relationships and operations
* Uphold & understand food health & safety
* Passion for executing quality meals & menus in the venue
* Reliable & punctual
