About This Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Cost Controller to join a major renewable energy and infrastructure project based in Cooma, NSW. This role will support a large-scale engineering and construction operation delivering critical energy infrastructure as part of one of Australia's most significant renewable projects. Initially office-based in Cooma, this position offers the opportunity to work within a high-performing project controls team while contributing to a nationally significant development. Working closely with the Project Manager, Planning Manager, Site Manager, Contracts Manager and Procurement team, this position will also support cost planning, earned value reporting, change management, subcontractor cost verification and quantity validation activities.
Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost control systems, registers and reporting tools
* Track, analyse and report project costs, commitments, forecasts and variances
* Prepare monthly cost reports, dashboards and cash flow forecasting
* Support earned value analysis and cost-to-complete reporting
* Monitor and validate subcontractor and supplier costs, claims and variations
* Assist with cost planning, change management and variation assessments
* Work closely with planning and commercial teams to align cost and schedule data
* Support procurement activities through benchmarking and financial assessments
* Maintain registers for variations, trends, risks and opportunities
* Ensure compliance with project controls standards, governance requirements and reporting processes
* Assist with quantity verification, BoQs and progress claim assessments where required
Requirements
* Experience in Cost Control, Project Controls or Financial Analysis within construction, infrastructure, energy or heavy industry projects
* Experience supporting large-scale EPC or infrastructure projects
* Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
* Strong understanding of project cost management, commercial frameworks and construction project lifecycles
* Experience working with cost management and project controls systems
* Exposure to contract administration, procurement processes and change management
* Strong analytical capability with advanced Excel and reporting skills
* Ability to work collaboratively across project, commercial and operational teams
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
This role will initially be based in Cooma, NSW operating on a 2:1 roster, with flights, accommodation and meal allowance provided.
