About the Opportunity
You will join our Oils & Technical Services team as a hands‐on Chemist who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys solving complex problems. This role is central to the collection, treatment, processing and recycling of liquid and hazardous waste, requiring both laboratory and operational work.
Responsibilities
* Process diverse waste chemical streams, including treatment, consolidation, and repackaging.
* Inspect, sample, assess, and classify various chemical wastes.
* Support the Operations Manager with waste management, storage, transport, and production activities.
* Prepare loads for transport, ensuring full compliance with dangerous goods regulations and accurate record‐keeping.
* Conduct treatability trials, select suitable treatment methods, and verify profitable waste treatment options.
* Liaise with relevant authorities and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Qualifications
* A degree in Chemistry or an equivalent field.
* Experience working with waste or hazardous chemicals.
* Background in wastewater treatment, chemical fixation or stabilization processes.
* Field sampling or laboratory experience.
* Confidence in operating laboratory instrumentation.
* Experience completing risk assessments and following work instructions.
* Strong attention to detail and meticulous record‐keeping in highly regulated environments.
* Solid understanding of chemical legislation, safe handling, storage and disposal practices.
