An exciting new opportunity has arisen (Full-time permanent role) for an experienced Wholesale & Risk Manager plays a pivotal role in safeguarding and optimising Energy Bay's commercial performance across wholesale energy markets. This role leads wholesale exposure management, hedging strategy, and risk governance, balancing market opportunity with disciplined risk controls.
This dynamic role will be working closely with Pricing, Retail, and Finance and provides market insight, forecasting, and risk advice to support informed commercial decisions. It also ensures alignment with risk appetite, compliance frameworks, and regulatory obligations, while strengthening wholesale risk capability as the business grows.
This is a highly visible role for a commercially astute leader who thrives at the intersection of markets, strategy, and risk management.

As the Wholesale & Risk Manager, you will contribute to:
* Portfolio Optimisation & Structural Hedging Strategy: Lead wholesale portfolio optimisation and structural hedging across Generation and Retail, providing strategic guidance on PPAs, tolling, and long-term market entry.
* Risk Measurement, Reporting & Governance: Lead wholesale risk reporting and governance, including Mark to Market, NOP, VaR/CVaR, and exposure analysis, ensuring compliance with Trading Policy and risk thresholds.
* Provide clear, timely risk insights and recommendations to the Executive and Risk Management Committee.
* Market Analytics & Scenario Modelling: Maintain and enhance market and pricing models (including FREMulator), delivering scenario analysis, price parity, and forward pricing insights.
* Support robust assumption development for internal governance and approval processes.
* Prudential, Liquidity & Counterparty Credit Oversight: Oversee prudential and counterparty risk management, ensuring AEMO and counterparty exposures remain within approved limits. Monitor liquidity and cash flow requirements, partnering with Finance on prudential planning, and conduct counterparty credit assessments to support informed risk decisions on new deals.
* Provide Strong Wholesale P&L outcomes, delivering sustainable gross margins
* Provide approval for new hedging products, financial instruments, and associated market assumptions for consideration by the CRMC.
You will be successful in the role if you possess:
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, or Commerce-related discipline.
* Proven experience and deep understanding of Energy Industry and Market structures
* Deep understanding of NEM operations, energy retail and embedded networks, with strong knowledge of market regulation, energy trading and regulatory compliance
* Proven experience in PPA origination, electricity pricing, asset dispatch, market trading and customer contract structuring
* Experience across renewable asset development and energy transition technologies (highly desired)
* Strong track record leading cross functional teams and scaling complex organisations (highly desired)
* Proven executive experience within the Australian electricity market, including re-tail, trading and/or generation (highly desired)
* Established capability in board reporting, governance, and commercial risk management (highly desired)
* Strong negotiation, presentation, and collaboration skills, ensuring delivery against agreed actions and timeframes.
* Dependable and professional, demonstrating consistency, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
* Influential communicator, able to engage stakeholders at all levels with clarity and credibility.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to pivot with changes in the electricity market.
