Disaster and Emergency Management Coordinator
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Disaster and Emergency Management Coordinator to coordinate the planning and delivery of training and exercises for departmental staff in disaster and emergency management.
About the Opportunity:
This role offers high-level advice to senior management, regional directors, and school principals on strategic issues pertaining to disaster and emergency management impacting schools in Queensland.
Key Responsibilities:
* Participate in project teams to develop, implement, maintain, and review programs, policies, and procedures to support disaster and emergency management direction.
* Establish and maintain strategic networks to monitor issues and changes, identifying best practice approaches to improve disaster and emergency management.
* Prepare briefing materials and reports on disaster and emergency management issues.
* Coordinate the planning and delivery of training and exercises for departmental staff in disaster and emergency management.
Requirements:
* Highly developed knowledge of contemporary disaster management and legislative requirements, government policies, and practices.
* Capacity to work under pressure, build and maintain internal and external relationships, influence, and motivate people, leading small teams calmly and confidently in times of crisis.
* Proven experience in disaster and emergency management, including project and program management.
* Effective communication, consultation, and negotiation skills to represent the department and establish partnerships with stakeholders.
* Experience managing disaster incidents using Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS) or similar incident management system.
Working Conditions:
