The Assistant Manager role plays a pivotal part in supporting the Manager and contributing to daily operations of a unit while performing other management functions as required.
They are responsible for direct supervision of staff and support the Manager in managing staff performance, training, and development, as well as analysing trends and workloads to ensure adequate resource allocation within teams. This position reports directly to the Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and lead a team, including applying human resource management processes;
* Work under pressure, meet deadlines, respond to new events, and escalate issues appropriately;
* Experience in the criminal justice environment is preferable or possess similar work experience demonstrating rapid knowledge acquisition;
* Maintain governance and oversight systems, using information to support service delivery and performance, quality assurance processes;
* Strong written and oral communication skills, complex report preparation for internal stakeholders;
* Proven skills in staff engagement, coaching, mentoring, staff development, conducting conversations, negotiating resolutions.
