We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Specialist in Anaesthesia to join our team at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital.
About the Role
This role is ideal for someone who wants to provide high-quality anaesthetic services in a friendly and supportive environment. As a Staff Specialist, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive anaesthetic services across four operating theatres.
You will be responsible for providing anaesthesia for ASA 1 and 2 patients undergoing selected complex major surgical procedures. You will also provide emergency airway management, ventilation, and acute pain services.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Providing anaesthesia for ASA 3 to 5 patients undergoing common and intermediate and selected major surgical procedures.
* Providing emergency airway management, ventilation, and acute pain services.
* Contributing to perioperative assessments, patient optimisation, and procedural planning.
* Working closely with Surgical and Emergency Department teams.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA.
* Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and/or specialist pathways.
* Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in Anaesthesia.
* Evidence of being a scholar, maintains medical professional development and has the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
* Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
* Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.
* Evidence of being a manager, including ability to be flexible and cope with a changing health system, past leadership and management experience and previous safety and quality improvement activities.
* Evidence of being a professional, including continued professional development, peer review and other forms of clinical governance.
* Evidence of being an advocate, including contributions to improving individual and societal health.
