About the role:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our Capital Works Delivery team within the Infrastructure Directorate. In this role, you will manage the planning, design, procurement, and delivery of a diverse range of capital works projects that support Whyalla City Council's strategic objective. Your responsibilities will include:
* Oversee the planning, implementation, and delivery of capital works projects from design to construction, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
* Develop project programs, schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and risk management strategies.
* Lead and coordinate internal teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives and maintain clear communication.
* Manage contracts from tender preparation and evaluation through to administration, quality control, and handover of works.
* Monitor and report on project progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with legislative, environmental, and WHS requirements.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with the community and key stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption and maximum benefit from projects.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and solutions-focused, with strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
If you possess the following qualifications and attributes, we want to hear from you:
* Proven project management experience in delivering capital works or infrastructure projects from concept through to completion.
* Strong program management skills, with the ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate works to meet annual business plan and strategic objectives.
* Experience preparing and managing project budgets, cost estimates, and procurement processes, including tenders and contracts.
* Competency with the Microsoft suite of programs, specifically MS Project, Excel and Word.
* Ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, balancing competing priorities while maintaining strong working relationships.
* Sound knowledge of WHS requirements, risk management, and quality control in a construction or infrastructure context.
* Highly developed problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills, with a commitment to delivering projects that achieve community, environmental, and organisational outcomes.
* Construction White Card, or willingness to obtain.
* Current South Australian Working with Children's Check, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
* Current Drivers License.

The salary applicable for this role is in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council's current Enterprise Agreement, paid at Level 6 commencing at $107,276 per annum.
