Role Purpose

We are looking for a Category Specialist, Corporate Services to join our Global Indirect Procurement team for a permanent opportunity. The role leads the development of the category strategy and the management of the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program for managed services, legal services, marketing, advertising, communications and other minor categories within the Corporate Services portfolio.

The role contributes to delivering sustained value and competitive advantage for Rio Tinto Group globally. Reporting to the Principal Advisor Corporate Services, Global Procurement, the candidate will develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive global category management strategy, collaborate with key internal stakeholders globally, research and update category knowledge, work closely with sourcing specialists, legal, finance and business partners, develop negotiation strategies, execute supplier relationship management, present strategies to Senior Procurement leaders and ensure sound category management processes are followed.

As a global role, the incumbent may be required to participate in early‐morning or late‐evening meetings with key stakeholders and suppliers.

Responsibilities

* Develop and implement a global category management strategy and agreements for commercial and operational excellence.
* Build relationships and collaborate with key internal stakeholders at Rio Tinto sites and corporate offices globally.
* Research and update category spend and market analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
* Coordinate with sourcing specialists, legal, finance, and business partners to deliver an efficient source‐to‐contract experience.
* Develop and execute negotiation strategies and communication plans for supplier negotiations.
* Execute a robust supplier relationship management structure to strengthen partnership and value creation.
* Present category strategies to Senior Procurement leaders for endorsement.
* Ensure category management processes, project implementation methodologies, and governance requirements are followed.
* Implement contract management, including execution, implementation, and supplier reviews.

Qualifications

* Commitment to safety and passion for procurement and people.
* Strong knowledge of procurement practices and responsibilities.
* Track record of stakeholder and supplier influencing.
* Sound negotiation skills with experience leading contract negotiations.
* Strong analytical skills and experience gathering and analysing market and spend data, and implementing category strategies.
* Collaborative mindset with excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Success in category management or strategic sourcing roles, preferably in managing indirect spend categories.
* Understanding of end‐to‐end procurement processes including category‐led buying channels.
* Ability to work independently and contribute to a strong team environment.
* Prior experience in corporate services/indirect categories is beneficial but not essential.
