About The Opportunity

As a result of continued growth and success we have an exciting full time permanent opportunity for a Product Quality Technician to join our growing team at our state‐of‐the‐art Milwaukee Distribution Centre situated in Tullamarine, Melbourne.

The focus of this pivotal role will be to implement and optimise quality inspections for Milwaukee products by reviewing in‐wards goods reports and documenting findings. You will provide technical support, identify any issues requiring attention and collaborate with cross‐functional teams and stakeholders to enhance the quality, efficiency and success of our products and business.

Reporting directly to the Engineering and Compliance Manager your day to day will include:

Quality Control and Inspection

* Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure products meet required quality standards and AQL specification.
* Define requirement specifications to develop Inspection and Test Plans across a wide range of products from hand tools to industrial power tools.
* Conduct Inward Goods Inspection by reviewing physical products, including disassembly and assembly where required, against supplied inspection reports to confirm products received into stock meet expected quality levels.
* Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and internal quality requirements.
* Use diagnostic tools, multi‐meters, specialised measuring and testing equipment to verify products meet engineering specifications.
* Simulate real‐world testing conditions for products to be tested and validated for required engineering specifications and performance.
* Develop and implement systematic troubleshooting methods in conjunction with the Quality Engineer to implement corrective actions.
* Conduct Spot Check reports for discrepancies on product lines as suggested by Product, Engineering or Warehouse teams.
* Use recognised Quality Control methodologies to determine and evaluate root‐cause faults with the Quality Engineer.
* Facilitate rework solutions development as well as coordinate and conduct technical rework.

Process Improvement Initiatives

* Identify areas for improvement within testing, inspection, and review processes.
* Create and maintain processes on Process Manager platform, reviewing, optimising and adhering to said processes and workflows.
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and operational efficiency.
* Participate in the development and scaling of the product quality auditing process.

Process and Test Documentation

* Maintain and update information within the organisation's database, generating reports and summaries as required.
* Update test procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation to reflect improvements and changes.
* Track recurring issues, analyze trends, and report findings to engineering and quality teams.
* Provide technical reports, summaries, and assistance once findings from inspections are recorded.

Calibration and Equipment Maintenance

* Ensure all test and measurement equipment is properly calibrated and functioning accurately.
* Maintain laboratory and diagnostic equipment, reporting any faults or issues that may affect test reliability or accuracy.
* Work closely with engineers, production teams, product teams, warehouse teams, service teams and quality assurance staff to address product issues and improve quality outcomes.
* Participate in quality meetings with product teams, presenting inspection findings and recommending remedial actions where required.
* Foster positive working relationships across departments to support quality objectives.
* Communicate testing outcomes, quality concerns, and improvement recommendations clearly and effectively.
* Provide guidance or training to junior technicians or production staff on testing and quality procedures where required.

About YOU

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills/attributes:

* Relevant experience in quality assurance, and process improvement with strong understanding of AQL and other Quality methodologies.
* Strong understanding of hand/power tools, relevant accessories as well as their functions and use cases.
* Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical components with their functions.
* Ability to read and create engineering drawings with a strong understanding of Dimensional, Geometric and Surface Tolerancing.
* Experience with SolidWorks, ANSYS or other Modelling and Simulation software.
* Understanding and experience with Rapid prototyping methods.
* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to understand technical specifications and documentation. Noting discrepancies in product and/or documentation essential.
* Strong computer and communication skills using the suite of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Power Point.
* Familiarity with warehouse environment and effective Work Health and Safety expectations.
* Technical qualification (Electrical, Mechanical Engineering) is highly desirable.
* Collaborative team player with effective communication skills to work with cross‐functional teams and support colleagues.
* Analytical mindset to identify product specific outcomes, providing valuable feedback for improvements and efficiencies.
* Continuous improvement mindset, willingness to learn, and contribute innovative ideas to enhance product quality and efficiency.
* A passion for cutting‐edge products, and a hands‐on approach to problem‐solving.
