AVK Australia is part of the Global AVK Group and responsible for the group's activities in the Oceania region (Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea & Pacific Islands). AVK Australia is based in Wingfield, South Australia, with operations across Australia as well as New Zealand.

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join our Finance team on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, this role involves day-to-day accounting tasks, assisting with month-end and year-end reporting, and ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure timely completion of financial transactions and journals required for End of Month (EOM) and End of Year (EOY) activities.
* Assist in preparing the Finance packs for Group reporting including reviewing and analysing financial reports.
* Perform reconciliations of General Ledger, Income Statement and Balance sheet needed for Group management reporting.
* Participating in the annual internal and external auditing processes ensuring that appropriate systems are in place and maintained providing documented evidence and calculations.
* Maintain and update the Expense Management software in line with user and finance requirements.
* Review and process supplier invoices, purchase orders, and credit notes (local and international), ensuring correct general ledger allocation and posting.
* Support accounts receivable activities, including reviewing debtor payments, credit notes, and statements.
* Work with Finance and Admin team on systems improvements, reporting tools, and accounting and financial system projects.
* Providing timely response to requests for finance information to support the effective management and control of department financial matters.
* Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and providing timely reports for internal and external stakeholders.
* Assist in maintaining internal control systems.
* Maintain the Fixed Asset Register in line with group policies and accounting standards.

Skills & Experience

* Bachelor of Accounting or related field
* Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience
* Demonstrated knowledge of Australian accounting standards and practices
* Strong understanding of financial compliance, internal controls, and reconciliation processes
* Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a hybrid work environment
* Advanced Excel skills, ability to work with lookups and pivot tables.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
* A collaborative approach to teamwork and the ability to support
