Clinical Director (Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine)
Are you a Specialist Anaesthetist looking to expand your leadership experience?
Based in Rockhampton supporting both Rockhampton and Gladstone Hospitals, the Clinical Director Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine will be a leader to deliver great care for Central Queenslanders and will influence the delivery of services across CQ Health. You will lead, inspire, and foster excellence in clinical outcomes, scholarship, and staff development.
There are a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland. The Cancer Care Unit provides care for local patients, with state-of-the-art equipment and services. Rockhampton Anaesthesia is accredited for ANZCA specialist training.
Minimum Requirements:
* Hold, or be eligible to apply for, registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia
* Fellowship of The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists
Remuneration and Benefits:
* Total remuneration (inclusive of allowances) in excess of $500k (AUD)
* Generous leave entitlements including 17.5% loading on annual leave

Responsibilities:
* Provide clinical leadership and strategic input to drive service improvements, foster teamwork, ensure patient-focused care, support governance initiatives, and represent the organisation in key advisory and medico-legal matters.
* Deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical care across various settings, demonstrating technical expertise, fulfilling diverse clinical responsibilities, supporting outreach services, and ensuring informed consent in line with CQ Health and Queensland Health protocols.
* Drive a strong patient safety culture by leading risk management, quality improvement, and accreditation initiatives, overseeing incident reviews, supporting policy development, and ensuring high clinical standards and patient care continuity.
* Lead the development and delivery of innovative clinical services and models of care, enhancing access, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, and promoting excellence in service, research, education, and inter-program engagement.
* Provide leadership and support for medical staff through performance management, training, and development, while ensuring effective recruitment, communication, and workplace safety practices are maintained.
* Promote and engage in research, education, and evidence-based practice to improve service outcomes, while leading teaching initiatives and contributing to the ongoing professional development of healthcare staff across disciplines.
* Oversee financial planning and management to ensure budget compliance, develop and implement cost-effective strategies, support financial accountability, and drive initiatives to enhance financial performance and reporting.
The role is structured to maintain a minimum of 0.5 FTE of clinical activities.
