Primary objective

Provide a first point of contact for approved Patient Assistance Travel Scheme (PATS) patients and Renal Services patients who

require transport assistance to and from Royal Darwin Palmerston Hospitals and Renal Services locations. Communicate transport

needs with Stakeholders and drivers and collate transport lists required for the following day.

Context statement

The Top End Patient Transport Service is a high-pressure service delivery unit that works closely with Darwin and District Hospitals,

Patient Travel Offices and Renal Services throughout the Northern Territory across a 7-day Service. It is a dynamic environment

that requires a flexible attitude and the ability to manage shifting priorities and competing demands.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Ability to work 7-day week roster

1. Download and create transport spreadsheets
2. Allocate daily transport schedules to the transport drivers

3. Follow up on travel enquiries in relation to patient transport bookings

4. Provide a first point of contact for all NT State Patient Travel Offices for the booking of patients/escort and renal patients.

Receive and process initial bookings and ensure all details pertaining to each job are inputted accurately into the database to

create the daily scheduled transports itineraries.

1. Liaise and book TEPTS vehicles with NT Fleet to ensure that the vehicles are roadworthy and comply with the vehicle servicing

and maintenance program.

1. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken

to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces

1. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour

Selection criteria

Essential

1. An ability to effectively interact and communicate (written and oral) in a professional and sensitive manner with clients, patients

and staff, including people from diverse cultures

1. Proven organisational and administrative skills including the ability to prioritise and complete a number of tasks concurrently

and within established timeframes to meet deadlines.

3. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal effectively and confidently with a wide range

of government and non-government organisations.

4. Proven ability to manage fleet of vehicles which includes maintenance bookings, fault and accident reporting, working

collaboratively with RDH Transport Manager and NT Fleet.

1. Demonstrated computer skills and experience in database management ensuring accurate records are maintained.
2. Proven attention to detail.
3. The ability to understand transport logistics and communicate via two-way radio.
