Freshwater Christian College is seeking a visionary, faith-driven, and sophisticated educational leader to join our Executive Leadership Team as the Head of Secondary, commencing Term negotiable).
This is a rare opportunity to lead a vibrant Years 7–12 community where academic rigour meets deep pastoral care. We are looking for an "architect of culture"—someone who can bridge the gap between high-impact pedagogical research and the daily reality of a flourishing classroom.
The Role
As the Head of Secondary, you will report directly to the Principal and hold ultimate responsibility for the strategic and operational success of our Secondary School. You will be a leader of leaders, mentoring our Middle Management team and ensuring our graduates are not only QCAA-compliant but globally competitive and "future-ready."
Key Priorities
* Instructional Leadership: Champion evidence-based strategies (Science of Learning) and drive a "Lead Learner" culture through robust instructional coaching.
* Data-Driven Growth: Use sophisticated data analysis (NAPLAN, ATAR, and internal metrics) to drive improvements in student outcomes and collective teacher efficacy.
* QCAA Mastery: Act as the final point of accountability for all Senior System procedures, ensuring integrity in endorsement, confirmation, and external exams.
* Future-Focused Pathways: Architect strategic partnerships with universities and industry, integrating AI ethics and digital literacy into the fabric of our curriculum.
* Holistic Safety & Wellbeing: Lead a proactive child-safe culture and a pastoral framework that balances high accountability with psychological safety.
About You
You are a seasoned educator with a proven track record in middle or senior leadership. You possess the rare ability to manage complex operations—like the school timetable and QCAA portal—while never losing sight of the individual student's journey.
Essential Criteria:
* Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
* A vibrant, authentic Christian faith and a commitment to modelling the College's Statement of Faith.
* Proven success in managing the QCE system and navigating QCAA requirements.
* Demonstrated experience in leading change management with empathy and clarity.
* High-level interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a diverse community of staff, students, and parents.
Highly Regarded:
* Postgraduate qualifications in Education, Leadership, or Ministry.
* Deep knowledge of the VET Quality Framework and ATAR eligibility.
