Job Summary:
The technician will perform cross-functional duties in plant maintenance.
Duties include routine and preventive maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment.
Responsibilities also include continuously monitoring the status of all plant systems to ensure safe and efficient operation, testing, inspection, calibration, and maintenance of all plant electrical/electronic equipment.
Additionally, the technician will assist with welding tasks that arise.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major electrical equipment and systems and emergency backup systems.
Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on PLC, DCS, and CEMS systems.
Inspect, repair, install, and remove all motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signals, communication and electrical systems, and storage batteries.
Assist with the preventive and routine maintenance of mobile and plant equipment; perform daily pre-/post-shift inspections and maintain maintenance log.
Handle preventive maintenance of unloading systems.
Perform lubricating maintenance and cleaning activities.
Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and processing of work orders.
Layout, level, and align pumps, compressor turbines, machines, and centrifuges; repair pumps; set impeller clearances; and set fan blades.
Align belts and motors to gearboxes using manual tools, lasers, and computers.
Fabrication, assembly, and construction of new machinery and equipment.
Build, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, rotary mixers, bucket elevators, and batch ovens.
Learn to operate plant-specific mobile equipment (front-end loader).
Follow all safety rules, regulations, and procedures set forth by the Federal and State agencies and Zinc Resources, LLC policies.
Must be willing to cross-train in all plant areas.
Maintain good housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
Perform other duties as requested.
Minimum Education/Experience Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
2-year technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent.
3-5 years' experience as an industrial mechanic, millwright, electrical, welding or maintenance technician.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
Fabrication skills, including welding.
Proficiently interpret technical documentation, including blueprints, schematics, manuals, and drawings.
Demonstrate expertise in analyzing electrical drawings, ladder logic, and other relevant technical schematics.
Possess expertise in various mechanical components: metals, bearings, mechanical seals, valves, pumps, couplings, turbines, compressors, and gearboxes.
Demonstrate proficiency in equipment layout, plant systems, industrial plant ICE systems, electrical principles, safety and test equipment for effective troubleshooting and maintenance.
Proficiently communicate in English to understand and convey work instructions effectively.
Demonstrate quick learning abilities, exceptional adherence to directions, and positive work habits (punctuality, skillfulness, neatness, dependency).
Self-starter who can work with little or no supervision and work well with teams in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude.
Capable of prioritizing workload efficiently to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
Service-oriented and a team player with a "can-do" attitude.
Ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer, and other equipment as required.
Flexibility in availability, including the ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical requirements:
Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirator (with no restrictions), chemical suits, hot gloves, and high-voltage protective equipment.
Capable of climbing stairs up to 100 ft. and working at this height, as well as bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching around all equipment areas.
Lift up to 50 lbs.
to waist level and carry 20 yards.
Use hand tools such as grease guns, shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
Work in areas with noise levels up to 90 dB.
Work in varied environments (all weather, heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, dusty).
Exposure to raw materials and various chemicals, solvents, and lubricants.
Additional requirements:
Basic hand tools are required for performing maintenance tasks.
