Primary objective
Provide efficient and effective administrative support and deliver administrative advice in relation to recruitment, position
amendments and maintaining data.

Context statement
Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) provides evidence-based differentiated services and support to schools to maximise
outcomes for Territory children and young people. Our services encompass quality teaching and learning, national and
systemic assessment, transition to boarding school support and policy coordination. TLS also plays a strategic role in
implementing government priorities, offering expert advice to the Education Minister and the department’s senior
executives. We enhance our work by actively engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure best outcomes for all
our clients.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Administer a range of processes in relation to recruitment and maintaining data.
2. Provide administrative support to staff at all levels, including processing all incoming and outgoing correspondence,

maintaining records, drafting correspondence, submissions, filing, and screening telephone calls and visitors.
3. Use computer software packages to undertake word processing, presentations, database entry, office administration, and

working knowledge of Records Management.
4. Work with the administration team, as required, to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services to all divisions of

Teaching and Learning Services.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated extensive experience in administering a range of processes in relation to recruitment and general office

procedures.
2. High level interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work in a team

environment with minimal supervision.
3. Organisational skills of a very high order, and an ability to work under pressure, complete tasks within required time

frames, work independently and flexibly, be self-motivated, exercise initiative and attention to detail.
4. Proven ability to use computer software such as Microsoft Office, records management, and Internet.
5. Ability to maintain effective consultative and working relationships with people from diverse professional, cultural and

linguistic backgrounds and to maintain confidentiality.

Desirable
1. Knowledge of recruitment databases such as eRecruit
2. Knowledge of employment law and legislation relating to Northern Territory Public Service
