Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service (WWHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that prides itself on delivering a range of health services to the community in a style and manner that makes clients feel welcome and comfortable.
The organisation operates a range of clinics and provides a range of primary health care and other services from its main clinic, chronic disease clinics, women's and children's health services, men's health services, and dental clinics. The WWHS delivers a range of community services aimed at improving health and wellbeing outcomes for clients through integrated approaches within the primary health care setting.
Amongst these community services are programs focused on alcohol and other drugs, mental health and wellbeing, Indigenous justice initiatives, individual support services, strong Indigenous families program, pathways to employment, and cultural care.
This position will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of a behaviour change program for men. The program has two stages: Design and Implementation. In the design stage, the successful candidate will lead the development of a culturally safe and trauma-informed program that aligns with minimal standards for domestic family violence programs in the Northern Territory.
In the implementation stage, the designed program will be delivered to support men who have used violence to understand the causes of their behaviour, the impact of violence, and address problematic behaviours. Throughout both stages, the successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders including legal services, police, corrections, child protection, drug and alcohol services, and health services.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate tertiary qualifications in community development, Aboriginal health practitioner, psychology, or public health, alongside extensive experience in primary health systems or social determinants programs. They will possess participatory and narrative approaches in health research and organisational change, as well as a proven track record in complex project management within community-controlled health settings and services.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the ability to lead organisational change through effective team leadership and management, collect, analyse, and report community-driven data, and apply knowledge translation processes into practice. A national police records check, working with children's clearance, and current Northern Territory driver's license are also required.
