The Role & Team
We have a unique opportunity for a passionate Data Engineer to join our Technology department on a 12-month fixed term contract. Reporting into our Lead Data Engineer, you will work with the broader local data team and partner closely with our Marketing department to identify and understand challenges and opportunities and deliver organisation wide insights to help accelerate robust decision making, drive consistency and enable self-service for the business.
In your role, you will migrate & transform data, creating views that can be utilised across our business. You will facilitate the use of data within the data team as well as allowing the benefits of data to be liberated across the organisation and within our digital transformation.
At Specsavers, we believe in adopting a hybrid approach to support our people and the future of work. When not working from an alternative location, you will be based at our support office in Port Melbourne.
What we are looking for
* Expertise in scripting with SQL, Python or Pyspark and sound knowledge of CI/CD
* Good technical ability and understanding of how big data platforms work, as well as the use of data development software (ETL packages) and programming languages (usually SQL and Python) to develop tools to extract, transform and load data, as well as to document the creation of these tools.
* Excellent communication skills as you will need to discuss technical principles and business processes in simple language to people at all levels.
* Experience in the below tools or similar technologies and tools
o Azure Data Lake
o Azure Data Factory
o Azure Databricks (inc. SQL and Python)
o Azure SQL Server
o Power BI Premium
o Azure DevOps/Git
