About our client
Our client is a Western Australian-owned business operating for nearly 30 years in the production of packaged building materials. With a workforce of 40 staff and two factories, they produce and supply a wide range of dry-mix products, repair mortars, tile adhesives, waterproofing solutions and DIY building materials.
About the opportunity
This is a hands-on Mechanical Fitter role covering a broad range of fixed and mobile plant equipment across two manufacturing sites. You'll oversee the day-to-day mechanical performance of production and mobile equipment and report to the Operations Manager.
Working closely with a boilermaker and another fitter, you'll help shape a proactive maintenance culture. The role can potentially progress toward a supervisory position within 12–18 months assuming growth levels are maintained. In this role, you will:
* Conduct preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on 4 main production units - encompassing conveyors, belts, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic cylinders, solenoids & air compressors.
* Maintain inventory and documentation for plant maintenance and parts
* Uphold safety standards and maintain compliance
* Support performance and basic servicing of trucks, forklifts, loaders, and bobcats (desired but not essential)
About you
We are seeking a hands-on mechanical fitter with experience in fixed plant equipment and mobile site vehicles (light mechanics) such as trucks, forklifts and a bobcat. You will have experience in routine and reactive maintenance and take pride in working safely and efficiently. To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Background in mechanical maintenance, across conveyors, belts, motors, pulleys and drives
* Understanding of safety compliance and preventative maintenance
* Willingness to mentor others and move into a leadership role
* An understanding of silo's and tanker trucks
* Forklift licence (preferred)
* Exposure to vehicle maintenance (desirable)
* Welding and/or diesel experience (desirable)
* Ability to work independently and across departments
A police clearance may be requested.
