About the Position

The Safer Communities Case Manager provides trauma-informed, safety-first case management, advice, and support to students who disclose experiences of gender-based violence, racism, harassment, discrimination, or other safety and wellbeing concerns. They also provide complex case coordination for students experiencing acute disability, mental health conditions, and other challenges.

Working within CDU's Safer Communities student service, the role undertakes intake, triage, risk assessment, and coordinated student support in accordance with relevant legislation, University policy, and best-practice trauma-informed frameworks.

The position contributes to, develops, and delivers student-focused prevention and education initiatives spanning all forms of violence, racism, safety, bullying and harassment, and ensures LGBTQIA+ inclusion for CDU students. They support compliance and reporting requirements and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent, safe, and student-centered responses across on-campus, online, regional, and VET learning environments.

About You

To be successful, you will require:

* A degree with subsequent relevant experience in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, or a related discipline highly desirable
* Demonstrated experience supporting students or young people affected by trauma, violence, or safety-related concerns.
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, risk assessment, and student safety planning.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with diverse student cohorts.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse contexts, including with First Nations and international students.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate case documentation.
* High standards of professional judgment, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
* High-level digital literacy, including experience with case management systems and standard office software.
* Commitment to the University's values.

Additional Competencies Required at Level 7

* Degree with at least four (4) years of subsequent relevant experience in a relevant discipline (Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Criminology, or related).
* Demonstrated experience managing higher-risk or more complex student cases with a high degree of autonomy.
* Well-developed capability in conducting comprehensive risk assessments and safety planning for students experiencing acute or ongoing risk.
* Experience contributing to the design, delivery, and evaluation of student-focused prevention, education, or awareness initiatives.
* Sound knowledge of the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence (particularly Standard 2) and its application to student safety and wellbeing
* Ability to provide informed advice and guidance to staff regarding student referral pathways and trauma-informed responses.
* Demonstrated contribution to service improvement, policy review, or quality assurance activities within a student support or comparable service environment.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Professional Employee Level 6/7. The base salary will be in the range of $89,487 - $105,992 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $104,669 - $124,010 per annum inclusive of 17% superannuation.
