Principal Data Engineer (Technical Lead)
The Role We are seeking a Principal Engineer to act as a hands‑on Tech Lead. This is a Player‑Coach role where you will own the data architecture, mentor the team, and write code to drive our migration from legacy systems to a modern cloud platform.
Core Responsibilities
* Architect & Build: Design high‑level strategy while coding daily (SQL, Python, dbt).
* Modernise: Drive the technical migration from SSIS/SQL Server to Snowflake.
* Lead: Act as the primary technical authority and mentor for the engineering squad.
Must‑Have Skills
* Architecture: Expert background in platform design and data modeling (Data Vault is a plus).
* Modern Stack: Expert‑level Snowflake and strong hands‑on dbt experience.
* Cloud & Scripting: Proficiency in Azure and production‑level Python.
* Legacy Systems: Deep expertise in SQL Server and SSIS (specifically for migration strategies).
* Leadership: Proven ability to lead code reviews and mentor engineers.

Adelaide based.
