Cairns Harbourside Hotel is seeking a commercially driven and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to join our growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive sales professional who enjoys building genuine client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and representing a well-established independent hotel within the Cairns tourism and hospitality market.
You will play a key role in driving Rooms and Conference & Events revenue through proactive sales activity, networking, client engagement, and market development across key commercial segments including corporate, conference & events, sporting groups, social events, and accommodation groups.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the market, developing connections, and contributing to the ongoing commercial success of a growing hotel ownership group.
What You'll Be Doing
* Proactively source and secure new business opportunities
* Conduct client meetings, hotel site inspections, and familiarisations
* Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, tourism partners, and event organisers
* Represent the Hotel at networking events, trade shows, and industry functions
* Develop and manage an active sales pipeline and CRM activity
* Prepare proposals, commercial agreements, and sales reporting
* Collaborate with operational and revenue teams to support overall Hotel performance
* Support commercial initiatives across other properties within the ownership group where required
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in hotel sales, business development, tourism, hospitality, or conference & events
* Strong networking and relationship-building skills
* Commercially minded with a proactive and self-motivated approach
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team environment
* Existing local market knowledge and industry relationships highly regarded
