About The Role
Are you someone who enjoys an active and fast paced role? This position will require you to multitask, manage competing priorities, be self-driven and work independently.
Ward Assistant's provide a vital role in providing non-medical assistance to staff and patients in our Acute areas.
Successful applicants will be required to work across a variety of shifts:
8.00am – 4.30pm
4.30pm – 9.00pm
9.00pm – 7.30am (once experienced)
Paid training is offered to successful applicants.
To remain active on our casual bank, a minimum of 4 shifts per fortnight is required. Due to the nature of casual employment, candidates must be living in the Ballarat region.

Mandatory Application Requirements

Be able to provide a minimum of 2 referees: 1 being your current direct manager and the other(s) an additional manager or supervisor
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate availability and accepting shifts based on availability
Cleaning patient areas, bathrooms, equipment and utility rooms in the clinical ward
Prepare patient beds for admission
Attending to general housekeeping duties as required by the clinical ward
Transfer medical equipment, patient files according to hospital protocol and as directed
Transporting specimens to Pathology as directed
Maintain stock levels of linen and non-medical supplies
Participate in annual performance reviews
Commitment to ongoing mandatory education
Skills And Experience
Demonstrated high level communication to be able to interact with a wide variety of individuals
Demonstrated ability to function within a team
Demonstrated person-centred care and respectful approach to patients, visitors and staff
Demonstrated ability to prioritise responsibilities and manage multiple tasks.
The ability to work with limited supervision
Demonstrates ability to be involved with change management processes and be supportive with the implementation as directed by the manager
Current Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain
