Business Support Manager – 2IC to Managing Director
Take the lead and drive impact in a hands-on 2IC role
Lead operations and projects in a fast-paced, essential service business within a growing Australian company.
About AAA Ability
AAA Ability is a proudly Australian-owned and well-established business specialising in the design, manufacturing, and supply of high-quality locksmithing and security solutions.
We are an essential service provider, delivering critical support to the government custodial sector, police, customs, border force, and other high-security industries, alongside a broad range of clients across Australia.
With a strong reputation for reliability, innovation, and exceptional customer service, we successfully facilitate projects of all sizes—from customised design and manufacture through to installation—across diverse industries.
Operating in a fast-paced and reactive environment, we pride ourselves on our ability to respond swiftly and effectively to the unique demands of each project and client.
As we continue to grow, we're seeking a capable and highly organised Business Support Manager to act as Second-in-Command (2IC) to our Managing Director — someone ready to take ownership of daily operations, drive operational excellence, and help shape the future direction of our business.
The Role
We're seeking a highly organised and trusted professional to join us as Business Support Manager, acting as the Second-in-Command (2IC) to the Managing Director.
This pivotal leadership role involves managing daily operations, supporting executive functions, and influencing the broader strategic direction of the business. As 2IC, you'll act as an extension of the MD — translating strategy into action, streamlining internal processes, and ensuring the seamless operation of key business functions.
Given our role servicing essential and high-security sectors, your ability to operate with trust, reliability, and agility in a reactive environment will be critical.
If you thrive in a hands-on, dynamic setting and are looking for a long-term role where you can make a genuine impact — we'd love to hear from you.
Core responsibilities required:
Oversee and manage daily business operations, providing strong leadership across key cross-functional teams including Locksmiths, Manufacturing, and Administration
Support the Managing Director in business planning, KPI tracking, performance reporting, and the execution of both business and project initiatives
Manage the end-to-end execution of projects of all sizes — from custom design and manufacture through to installation — often juggling multiple projects simultaneously
Lead operations within a fast-paced, reactive environment, delivering essential services to high-security sectors such as custodial, police, customs, and border force
Monitor and identify opportunities for operational improvement, driving efficiency and continuous improvement
Manage internal communications and oversee processes including HR, compliance, procurement, and project coordination, fostering a positive team culture
Liaise with key suppliers, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery and operational alignment
Be the go-to leader for staff on a day-to-day basis, ensuring alignment, engagement, and clear communication across the business
Act as the Managing Director's delegate in meetings and decisions when the MD is off-site or unavailable.
About You
You're a proactive and adaptable professional with the ability to lead in a fast-moving, reactive environment. You remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions quickly, and are confident juggling a wide range of responsibilities.
You bring strong organisational and communication skills, a solutions-focused mindset, and thrive in a hands-on leadership role. Your ability to support senior leadership while managing competing priorities makes you an invaluable asset to any high-performing team.
